Executive Summary

The purpose of this business plan is to support a request for a $500,000,000. five-year bank loan to purchase 200 acres of land to grow organic food, purchase equipment/supplies, trainers, workforce, logo and marketing materials to produce enough product to supply most local food banks in Oregon. As part of the financing for a start-up limited liability company “Mom I’m Hungry” would provide free organic food and nutritional education to poor families. The business will be owned by Humanitarian Project Sprouts located in Troutdale, Oregon, USA. The business will provide advocacies for young children and their families. It is anticipated that Mom I’m Hungry will become firmly established within the Portland Public School District and throughout the Portland community. In five years we could have the potential to expand into a facility and bring in more advocates, family counselors, and peer-group advocates.

Even with a school’s best efforts hungry can affect the wellbeing of the entire student population. In order to stop hungry, it needs to be addressed at every level of a student’s experience. That is why Mom I’m Hungry is a whole school program aimed at preventing or reducing hungry throughout a child’s day. The goal of Mom I’m Hungry is to train staff, who can be influential and have an understanding of the social relationship children use for coping with emotional behaviors due to the insufficient nutrition. Trained adults can supervisor and appropriately intervene to help stop the embarrassment and humiliation that hungry brings. The participants, in turn can transfer their knowledge to schools, victims and to the community. By creating a website Mom I’m Hungry is matching the modern technology of kids today and

providing a way for them to remain anonymous, while seeking resources and help. Our goal is to study available data and seek training from reputable sources that has demonstrates success in

stopping hungry and implementing it in our schools, neighborhoods and communities that raise awareness and make children’s hunger a top priority.

The Business Description

Mom I am Hungry/Sprouts will be a nonprofit organization design to prevent hunger by advocating and supporting children and families that are currently hungry or nearing hunger. Mom I am Hungry/Sprouts Promotes healthy eating behaviors by intervening immediately to bring parents and children together to work effectively to end hunger in America and eventually around the world. Children develop nutritional knowledge, behavior and social development. Mom I am Hungry/Sprouts is committed to creating food pantries, soup kitchens, and other charitables food assistance to organizations that report an increased need for food assistance for children. One of the largest barriers to serving more children is that there are not enough organizations willing to sponsor their programs. For too many children, access to complete nutritious meals is limited to what children receive at school. This leaves evenings, weekends, and vacations where children may be lacking adequate nutrition. Improvements can be made to reach more children outside of school hours by expanding the programs that can serve meals to children and families in these high-risk areas.

My goal is to strive to meet the nutritional needs of vulnerable children and families in Oregon, prevent new problems, improve relationship’s and make children and families a healthier more positive place for ending to childhood hungry.

What are the benefits? Children from many poor families receive less than 70% of the recommended daily intake of major nutrients. This deficiency translates into increased risk for serious and costly health problems, including anemia, impaired cognitive development, and stunted growth. Children suffering from hunger or near hunger are also less likely to have access to sufficient medical care.

A website will be established that agencies could access, where no one is turned down. They are allowed to get information. Here, they can seek resources, find trained counselors to report that they are in need or someone they know is hungry. Mom I am Hungry would be a place where their voices can be heard without judgment, skepticism, or fear and shame. Children and families must know that they will get a nutritious meal whenever needed. Food insufficiency also hinders children’s social development. Studies show that child hunger may be linked to behavior problems, delayed social development, anxiety, and other emotional problems.

Why am I doing it? For emotional, cognitive, and physical reasons, a hungry or undernourished child faces significant educational challenges. School attendance and academic performance both suffer due to student hunger. Food insufficiency, often caused by missing breakfast, diminishes a child’s ability to retain knowledge, concentrate, and develop language and math skills.

If the food banks agrees and in partnership with the school, program would act as a go to in the affect schools to document the free food/meals. The information is then turned into the principles of the school, where they are expected to address the situation according to school policies, and state and federal laws.

I will require 15 people to start my program. As the need grows so will the employees. We will be situated in Troutdale, Oregon. I will want to buy or build a home on the property. I will live there and my office will be onsite and in one other location in Troutdale. The technologies I will need are computers/software, farming tools and equipment, water irrigation system. I will need to work with suppliers for seed, ect. I will also need over-the counter things.

Vision Statement

I believe we can end childhood hunger and is an important battle. The challenges our children face today impact how well they are able to achieve their full potential. All people regardless of race, disabilities, age, gender, and income have a right to enjoy the same access to healthy organic meals.

MissionStatement

In two- five years, Mom I am Hungry/Sprouts will be established in the majority of Oregon Public Schools and known throughout the communities we serve. Children and families have certain need that must be met in a hierarchical fashion, from the lowest to the highest. These include basic needs, love and belonging.
